Scout Composer

Privacy

Your stills stay on your machine.

Last updated September 19, 2026

Scout Composer runs entirely in your browser. The photographs you drop into it, the frames you draw, the crops you export and the project files you save are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. There is no image server.

What we keep

When you open the app from this site we ask for your email address and which of two things you came to do (build a shot list, or check how a location frames up). We store those two answers, and the time you gave them, so we can tell you when the app changes and understand who is using it during the beta. That is the complete list.

What we don't

No photographs. No project files. No passwords โ€” there aren't any. No analytics scripts, no advertising trackers, no third-party cookies. Cloudflare, which hosts this site, records ordinary request logs (address, time, page) as any host does.

Dictation, if you use it, runs on your browser's speech recognizer; on Chrome that means the audio of what you say is sent to Google to be turned into text. The photographs are never part of it.

What stays in your browser

To skip the sign-in next time, the site remembers your email in your browser's local storage. The app reads it to show who is signed in and to note it as the author inside project files you save โ€” those files live wherever you put them, and travel with whoever you hand them to. Choosing Not you? on the sign-in page clears the remembered email.

Removing your email

Write to hello@scoutcomposer.com and it's gone from our list.
